Players going 50 – 5 in an average lobby is simply frustrating. We have all been in a lobby with players that are simply too good to be real. Call of Duty, for example, has a real issue with cheaters to the point that some games are just not enjoyable. In saying all of this there are certain games we all know have more cheaters than others. Using the lag switch effectively would take some practice. So, if you are having continued lag but remaining in the game that can indicate a lag switch user in the lobby.Īs mentioned above I don’t think they are common in your average lobby especially since they do take a little getting use too. If you are having terrible lag, in most cases, the server will kick you from the game as you are having issues staying connected. This happens because when you experience normal lag most servers are acting as if you are simply having a brief connection issue and so will keep you in the game. It means that as you are shooting someone that person can flick the lag switch and after a brief moment of lag they are suddenly out of the line of fire where they can then shoot you. These devices and tactics would be a serious problem at a more competitive level though.Ī lag switch is a device that can be placed on a home network that will affect the flow of traffic on the server causing a momentary lag in that server. If there is a way to cheat then some people will use it however I believe lag switches are not very common in an everyday game lobby, especially, for example, in my 0.93 K/D kind of lobby. Some people tend to believe this is prevalent in all FPS games, especially at competition level, where others feel they exist and are used, but not very often. This seems to be a divided topic of conversation.
